Why would anyone need a car that goes 140 mph when the top speed limit is 70? Car crashes kill almost 50,000 people a year. Gun deaths have steadily declined to around 25,000 a year with suicide and self defense shootings in that total. Murder by firearm is about 18,000. So called assault weapons account for less than 1% of those deaths. What you call assault weapons are not really. They are not full automatic weapons. Only the military, police, government agencies and collectors who pay a tax to the government own actual assault weapons. Most criminals are not going to pay almost $1000 for a gun they can't conceal or throw away after a crime. So you have no fear from law abiding gun owners...as a matter of fact, we are the ones who are looking out for you sheep.
"And the wolves will learn as we've shown before, that we love our sheep, we dogs of war".
Who are you to decide what I do or do not need?
You asked, "why does anyone need an assault weapon."
You miss the point. WHY DOES ANYONE NEED CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS?On a lesser note: Why does anyone NEED to have: a baby, friends, flat screen TV, telephone, camera, computer, gym, snowmobile, cross-country skis,
golf courses, skis and ski slopes, books and magazines, coffee, chocolate,
cats, dogs, X-boxes, DVD players, movies, ATVs, bike and walking trails,
grilles, jewelry, beauty creams and perfumes, etc.I have left out hundreds of items but hope to have made my point. Most of these things were not around 100 years ago, but the items and hobbies we
all have in some way bring us enjoyment and enriched lives. So it is with shooting. I do not hunt. I am a recreational shooter. I derive
great pleasure from my hobby in the same way you do from whatever yours
is.Dear lady, wake up and smell the coffee. It is about "Life, Liberty, and the
pursuit of Happiness." PLEASE leave my life, my liberty and my pursuit of
happiness alone and I will do the same for you.
